OnePlus Adds ‘Maestro’ Tier to Red Cable Club, Rolls Out New Benefits for Members

OnePlus' popular Red Cable Club membership programme, which brings a host of benefits and discounts for members, is being revamped. The Shenzhen-based manufacturer is introducing a new membership tier to the RCC, which brings premium benefits for OnePlus customers. The new ‘Maestro' tier will serve as the topmost tier of the OnePlus Red Cable Club membership, offering highest value of offers across audio and IOT products, additional monthly RedCoins, special invites to OnePlus events, and more.

The Maestro tier of the Red Cable Club membership was announced Monday for OnePlus customers. According to OnePlus, RCC members with the newly launched OnePlus Open foldable, or at least three OnePlus flagship devices linked to their RCC account with purchases on OnePlus.in and OnePlus Store app will be eligible for the Maestro tier membership.

Mestro tier members will receive a discount coupon of up to Rs. 1,200 while purchasing OnePlus audio devices, watches, and tablets for a minimum order value of Rs. 1,999. Highest tier members will also get 50 RedCoins every month, which can be used on Red Cable Privé to access exclusive benefits.

Just like the lower tier plans Insider and Elite, Maestro members can also avail three-month extended warranty on OnePlus devices, coupon discount of up to Rs. 2,000 for OnePlus TV purchases, and discount coupons on phone purchases, too. Additionally, Maestro members also get a Cases & Protection coupon of up to Rs. 1,299.

These benefits apply to RCC members with OnePlus 6 Series and above

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Said to Support Ultra HDR; Launch Timeline Tipped Again

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to launch in early 2024. The series is expected to succeed the Galaxy S23 lineup which were introduced to the market earlier this year in January. The upcoming lineup is likely to include a Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, similar to its preceding lineups. In the last few months, several details including key specifications of the Galaxy S24 series have leaked on the Web. Now, another new leak has surfaced online that details some display features that the models are said to arrive with. Meanwhile, a report once again hints at the likely launch timeline of the handsets.

Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) suggested in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), that the much-anticipated Galaxy S24 series will support HDR viewing for photos in its gallery, a feature similar to that of Ultra HDR, that was introduced with Android 14 this year. The photo viewing experience on handsets is said to receive a considerable upgrade if this is true. An Ultra HDR-like feature will ensure that the brightness, contrast, and colour range of an image captured on the phone remains unchanged while viewed from its gallery, unlike what the SDR display range offers.

The tipster also claims in another post shared on Weibo that the Galaxy S24 series has entered the mass production stage and is likely to be released in the market by mid to late January. However, a recent Sammobile report suggests citing an internal source that the lineup will see an earlier launch, which could happen any time between early to mid-January. No matter which suggested timeline we go by, it is likely that we will see the launch of the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024.

The Galaxy S24 series has been tipped to use both in-house Exynos and Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. The Galaxy S24 Ultra model has been spotted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, while the base and the plus models are expected to be powered by deca-core Exynos 2500 SoCs.

Samsung also recently teased its upgraded 200-megapixel sensor with ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace technology. This new feature will offer AI-aided tracking of any subject while capturing a video and allowing for 4x zoom on 4K videos, in any direction, using its Tetra-pixel technology. The quad-camera setup of the high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra model has been tipped to include a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX primary sensor, a 12-megapixel Sony IMX564 ultra-wide camera, a 10-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and another 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom support.

In July, the vanilla Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 was launched in India priced at Rs. 99,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The 8GB RAM + 512GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 1,09,999. It debuted in Cream, Graphite, Lavender, and Mint shades.

India vs England World Cup Match 2023 Today: How to Watch Live Stream, Live Telecast Details

India vs England World Cup 2023 match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 29, at Ekana Sports City stadium, Lucknow. The host team has been faring well in the tournament so far, with 5 wins in all the matches it has played. With 10 points, India sits second in the points table for the World Cup 2023. It is only behind South Africa, who moved to first position after a massive win against Pakistan. On the other hand, the defending champions will find it hard even to make it to the semi-finals at this stage. England sits at the last position in the points table currently, with only one win in its account so far.

India is suffering a loss as Hardik Pandya is recovering from his injury. While he was expected to join the team for Lucknow's game, his ligament tear may take longer to heal, and we might miss him for the next two games. Suryakumar Yadav replaced Pandya in the previous match against New Zealand. However, he failed to woo fans with his performance. On the other hand, Mohammad Shami took 5 wickets in the same match and became the Player of the Match. For the next clash, BCCI may take a chance with R Ashwin to fill Pandya's position. Another awaiting feat is Virat Kohli's 49th century, making him the cricketer with most ODI centuries.

England, the champions of World Cup 2019, has been finding it hard to score a win. In the five matches it has played so far, England has managed to claim a victory only once. While captain Jos Buttler has repeatedly defended his team, there have been questions from all ends. Their performance has made it difficult to qualify for the semi-finals. It will be interesting to see if England manages to reclaim their lost glory against India.

The match will begin at 2 pm IST, and the toss will take place 30 minutes before the scheduled time, at 1:30 pm IST.

India vs England World Cup 2023 squad

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav

England: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament began on October 5. The first match took place between the finalists of the last season — New Zealand and England. With 17 matches left before teams move to the semi-finals zone, a lot is at stake that can turn the tables anytime. This year, 10 teams have participated in the World Cup 2023 tournament. These are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The World Cup 2023 final will take place on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India Mobile Congress 2023 Highlights: From JioSpaceFiber, 6G, 5G Redcap Device Demo and More

The seventh edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023 kicked off on Friday with the inauguration by Prime Minister Modi at Bharat Mandapam. This year's event is centred around the theme of Global Digital Innovation, with exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge technologies such as satellite communication, 6G demo, and other use cases.

The first day of the event saw dignitaries like Akash Ambani, Chairman - of Reliance Jio, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, and Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, attending the inaugural session of IMC 2023. Unlike last year, where the 5G rollout announcement was a big draw for the event, this year, we saw multiple demo sessions and other key announcements, which we will cover in this article, making the main headlines.

100 5G Labs

The first big announcement was about establishing 100 5G labs across India to promote students, professors, startups, and MSMEs to work on 5G technology in various fields like health, agriculture, manufacturing and more. These labs will be set up in academic institutions in multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Telangana, Karnataka and more. The names of institutions have been announced, and they include IIT Guwahati, IIT Silchar, Delhi Technological University, Jamia Hamdard University, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, and more.

JioSpaceFiber

At the IMC 2023 event, Reliance Jio demonstrated the country's first satellite-based Gigabit broadband service to provide high-speed internet in previously inaccessible geographies. At the event, Jio demoed how they are offering internet to four locations, which are remote in location, including Gir Gujarat, Korba Chattisgarh, Nabrangpur Odissa, and Jorhat Assam. At the moment, there's no word when the service will be widely available to users.

Reliance Jio also showcased the Jio Glass, a mixed-reality handset, at IMC 2023. Announced at the company's 43rd annual general meeting, Jio Glass was available for demo paired to a OnePlus Nord smartphone. We tried it briefly for a few minutes, and it seemed decent.

6G Sensing Demo

Nokia presented a demo of its 6G network, which can act as a radar and sense objects, people, and movements without compromising privacy. This situational awareness will give individuals a digital 6th sense, enabling them to gather information about their surroundings, see around corners, and even interact with objects from a distance. Nokia showcased a live demonstration of this 6G sensing capability using prototype radio equipment. The company also highlighted its smart and safe railway networks (NCRTC) and its collaboration with Alstom to deliver a private wireless network for (NCRTC) Delhi to Meerut RRTS. It is claimed to be the world's first LTE/4.9G private wireless network that supports European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 Signaling. The private network being deployed enables trains to continuously receive their movement authorities using radio signals and report their exact direction and position to ensure the safety of all on board. The low-emission RRTS will transport more people at average speeds of 100 kmph, reducing travel time and road congestion.

RedCap Technology Demo

Reduced Capability (RedCap) solution aims to bring down complexity and extend the battery life of devices while delivering higher data rates/ speeds. RedCap is a new radio access network (RAN) software solution by Ericsson that creates new 5G use cases and enables more 5G connections from devices such as smartwatches, other wearables, industrial sensors and AR/VR devices. At the IMC 2023, Ericsson and Airtel partnered with Qualcomm to demonstrate Reduced Capability (RedCap) device capabilities. Earlier this month, Ericsson's pre-commercial Reduced Capability (RedCap) software was successfully tested on the Airtel 5G network.

How Airtel is solving network problems with AI

Airtel's A-SON solution isn't a new proposition, but it attracted us to demo how this works in a region. Airtel claims that its AI-powered Self Optimising Network or A-SON is reimaging network experience. The system detects anomalies and solves them with AI without any manual intervention. The solution is designed in a way to predict issues that the Airtel networks will face in future and ensure that the team resolves them beforehand. Notably, the solution is fully designed by Airtel and was first introduced in March 2022.

Additionally, Airtel also demonstrated how its Xtream AirFiber works for areas where it has no fiber or broadband connectivity. Currently, the service is available in select regions like Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Noida.

Apart from showcasing live 5G experiences at IMC 2023, Vi demonstrated various use cases spanning Enterprise, Consumer, and Community Development, highlighting the vast potential of technology and 5G.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Could Offer Satellite Communication Support: Report

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is likely to offer satellite communication support, according to details reportedly shared by a company executive. According to a Sisa Journal-E report (translated from Korean), Samsung Electronics System LSI Business Head Yong-In Park stated during a recent presentation that the South Korean tech conglomerate was preparing to offer support for satellite communication on its smartphones next year. With the Samsung Galaxy S24 series of smartphones expected to debut in Q1 2024, these handsets are likely to be the first to support the feature.

According to the report, the Samsung executive said that the company has already made preparations to support smartphone communications using a satellite. Yong-In Park, who made the announcement at the 2023 Semiconductor Expo, did not specify a timeline for the functionality to be enabled, or reveal which phones would support the feature.

It is worth noting that Apple announced support for non-terrestrial networks (NTN) communication via its Emergency SOS satellite feature with the iPhone 14 series of smartphones in 2022, and the company's latest phones — including the iPhone 15 Pro Max — also support the feature. Earlier this year, Qualcomm announced Snapdragon Satellite support on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but the feature was not enabled on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series of smartphones.

On the other hand, Samsung's own Exynos 5300 modem that features on its Exynos 2400 mobile processor as well as Google's Tensor G2 (Pixel 7) and Tensor G3 (Pixel 8) chips, also supports NTN connectivity. Samsung is yet to reveal whether it will enable support for satellite communication on its Exynos 2400 chip — expected to power the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ — or the recently unveiled Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip that is tipped to power the top-of-the-line Galaxy S23 Ultra handset.

It's also unclear whether Samsung's Galaxy S23 series of smartphones — comprising the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra — as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will offer support for emergency satellite connectivity. TM Roh, president and head of Samsung's mobile experience business division, previously stated that satellite functionality was still quite restricted on smartphones and that it was too soon to implement the feature on Samsung handsets.

Realme GT 5 Pro Officially Teased, Confirmed to Get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Ahead of Imminent Launch

Realme GT 5 Pro is expected to launch soon. The phone is expected to join the Realme GT 5 model in its lineup, which was released in August this year in China. For several weeks, leaked details of the GT 5 Pro model have been doing the rounds of the rumour mill. The phone has been tipped to come with a periscope camera and the latest octa-core Qualcomm chipset. The company has finally officially teased the handset, although it has yet to confirm a launch date.

In a Weibo post, Realme posted a teaser image with the word ‘Pro', confirming that the Realme GT 5 Pro is set to launch soon. The company has not shared any design teasers yet. The image just teases the 'Pro' moniker of the handset while the caption (written in Chinese) translates roughly to, “It takes two years to build a ship, and we are ready! Please shout out its name!”

Realme shared another post on Weibo that said the GT 5 Pro model will come with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. According to earlier reports, the phone is expected to get up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage. It is said to ship with Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0.

The upcoming Realme flagship model has previously been tipped to get a BOE AMOLED curved display with a 2K resolution. A MySmartPrice report claims that the Realme GT 5 Pro may sport a 6.82-inch panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

Previous leaks also suggest that the Realme GT 5 Pro is likely to include an unspecified Sony IMX9 1/1.4x primary sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

The Realme GT 5 Pro is expected to be backed by a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support. For security, the handset is said to be equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Notably, the Realme GT 5 is said to be offered in two battery and charging capacity variants - a 5,240mAh battery variant with 150W fast charging support and a 4,600mAh battery variant with 240W fast charging.

Amazon Passkey Support Rolling Out on Web Browser, Mobile Apps: Here’s How to Set Up the Feature

Amazon announced that it is rolling out passkey support on Web browsers and its mobile apps to help customers securely sign in to their Amazon accounts. The e-commerce giant follows several other tech firms in bringing passkeys to its apps in recent times. WhatsApp, Google, and Microsoft Windows have all added passkey support for their products this year. With Amazon now rolling out the feature, customers won't have to use their unique passwords to access their accounts.

The e-commerce site announced Monday that passkey support was now available for all Amazon customers using browsers to access the site. The security feature will begin rolling out soon for the Amazon app on iOS and will be added later to the shopping app on Android.

According to Amazon, customers can set up passkeys in Amazon settings and use the face or fingerprint recognition on their device, or the device PIN to access their Amazon accounts securely. “This is about giving customers ease-of-use and security simultaneously in their Amazon experience,” Dave Treadwell, senior vice president of e-commerce at Amazon, was quoted as saying in the announcement. Amazon confirmed that account passwords were not going away, and passkeys will only serve as an alternative way for account authentication.

How to set up passkeys on Amazon

Amazon has listed out a step-by-step process for enrolling for passkeys. Users can head to the Amazon website on a Web browser or open the iOS Amazon app with the passkey update, select Your Account, chose Login &Security, and select the Set up option next to Passkeys. Users can follow the instructions and add a passkey to their account, after which they can sign in on the supported device using biometric authentication like face or fingerprint, or the device lockscreen PIN.

Passkeys have recently become a popular, safe and quick alternative to password-based account authentication. Unlike a password, users don't have to remember or write down a passkey and thus cannot be accidentally shared or guessed. Last week, popular messaging app WhatsApp rolled out support for passkeys on Android devices.

In June, Microsoft said it would add support for passkeys on Windows 11, letting users seamlessly sign in to a site or application using their face, fingerprint, or a PIN. Google, too, began rolling out passkey support earlier this year.

OnePlus 12 Confirmed to Get 2K Resolution BOE X1 OLED LTPO Display With 2,600 Nits Brightness

OnePlus 12 is said to launch soon, succeeding the OnePlus 11, which was released earlier this year in February. Ahead of the launch, OnePlus has confirmed the display details of the upcoming flagship . The OnePlus 12 is expected to be introduced to the market later this year in December. Leaked details of the phone have been doing rounds of the rumour mill in the past few weeks. Design renders of the smartphone have also been leaked. OnePlus also announced the display specifications of the OnePlus Ace 3, the successor to the OnePlus Ace 2 that was unveiled alongside the OnePlus 11.

In a Weibo post, OnePlus claims that the upcoming OnePlus 12 will be the first smartphone in the world to be equipped with a DisplayMate A+ rated X1 “Oriental Screen” with a resolution of 2K and a peak brightness level of 2,600 nits. The X1 display also is said to offer a lifespan that's twice the industry average. The screen performance is claimed to have been improved by 90 percent with this panel and power consumption of the same has been claimed to be reduced by 13 percent, notes the report.

In previous leaks, it has been speculated that the OnePlus 12 may share a similar design language to that of the preceding OnePlus 11. The upcoming phone has also been tipped to be powered by the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The rumoured triple rear camera unit of the OnePlus 12 could include a Sony IMX966 50-megapixel sensor, a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide telephoto lens (said to be the Sony IMX581), and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor with 3x optical zoom and hybrid zoom camera. The handset could pack a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. It is likely to ship with Android 14-based OxygenOS 14.

Detailed in another Weibo post, the OnePlus Ace 3 is set to arrive in the market with a 1.5K BOE X1 “Oriental Screen” display. More details about this handset are expected to be revealed closer to the launch date.

Qualcomm Looks to Take on Apple, Intel With Its Snapdragon X Elite Processor

Qualcomm today announced its new Snapdragon X Elite platform at its Snapdragon Summit 2023 in Maui, Hawaii, United States. The company had announced the Snapdragon X branding earlier this month. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite platform features the company's Oryon CPU and promises a performance boost of up to two times versus its closest competitors. So far, Qualcomm has only shared some reference designs and benchmarks, but we're expecting to see some live benchmarks over the coming days.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is built on a 4nm process, with 12 high-performance cores clocked at 3.8GHz and up to 136GB/s memory bandwidth. The chipmaker showed off some impressive numbers during the keynote, including 50 percent "faster peak multi-threaded performance" when compared to Apple Silicon M2, and up to twice the CPU performance compared to Intel Core i7-13800H. However, it's worth mentioning here that the Snapdragon X Elite has 50 percent more cores compared to Apple's M2 chip.

Oryon, Qualcomm's latest Arm CPU core is designed by Nuvia, the company that it acquired back in 2021. Snapdragon X Elite SoC is packed with 12 Oryon cores. These are split into three parts with four cores each. Snapdragon X Elite seems like a massive jump in improvement considering the company's older 8XC chips. For a laptop, Snapdragon X Elite SoC looks like a powerful chip, but we'll have to wait for a complete hands-on and live benchmarks.

On the graphics front, Qualcomm claims its latest chipset offers up to twice the performance compared to an Intel Core i7-13800H with 74 percent less power consumption.

Qualcomm remains deeply focussed on adding an AI element into its latest chips. The Snapdragon X Elite is capable of running generative AI models with more than 13 billion parameters on the device itself. The company's latest premium mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, is also packed with on-device generative AI features.

During the day 1 keynote, Qualcomm announced several key partners including Lenovo that are on board to ship devices packed with its latest chips. You can expect PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite to start shipping from the middle of 2024.

Qualcomm Seamless announced

Another interesting announcement during the keynote was Qualcomm Seamless. Dubbed as a 'cross-platform' technology that can enable devices across multiple platforms to talk to each other so users can have a seamless experience, Seamless will work on Android, Windows, and Snapdragon-based devices. Qualcomm is working with Microsoft, Google, Dell, Lenovo, and other partners to bring its Seamless technology to more devices. Use cases could revolve around switching wireless earphones between multiple sources, moving files among different devices, and so on.

Snapdragon Seamless comes built-in on the company's new Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platforms. Qualcomm partners such as Xiaomi, Lenovo, Microsoft, and others are expected to roll out support for the technology in their upcoming products.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: India vs New Zealand Sets Live Streaming World Record With 4.3 Crore Viewers

India recorded a convincing four-wicket win over New Zealand — their first over the Black Caps in an ICC tournament since 2003 — to climb to the top of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 table on Sunday. Handing New Zealand their first defeat of the tournament, India have now won five games on the trot at the World Cup, looking strong favourites to lift the trophy for the first time since 2011. Rohit Sharma and co. chased down a target of 274 with 12 balls to spare, courtesy an emphatic 95 from Virat Kohli. In the process, the match also set a new world record for live streaming, with Disney+ Hotstar recording 4.3 crore live concurrent viewers.

Disney+ Hotstar owns the digital streaming rights for the ongoing World Cup and, according to the streamer, 4.3 crore live concurrent viewers tuned in on Sunday to watch India versus New Zealand. This marks a new world record for streaming, breaking the previous record set by the India versus Pakistan match on October 14.

Hosts India and 2019 World Cup finalists New Zealand were the only two undefeated sides at the tournament heading into the match, with the Black Caps sitting top of the table on the basis of a higher net run rate. While New Zealand fielded an unchanged side from their win over Afghanistan, India made two changes. Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami came in for the injured Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur.

India won the toss and put New Zealand to bat, who set up a total of 273 with the help of Daryl Mitchell's 130 off 127 balls, with Shami taking five wickets in the process. While Kohli narrowly missed out on another century, his 95 helped India reach 274 with two overs remaining.

The India versus Pakistan match on October 14 also set a global streaming record when over 3.5 crore live concurrent viewers tuned in on Disney+ Hotstar to see the much-awaited clash. The streamer holds the streaming rights for the World Cup in India and is also offering new viewing features for the tournament in association with the ICC. Its new MaxView feature allows cricket fans to watch matches in portrait mode on their smartphones, with ICC providing a dedicated vertical feed.

Of course, unless you're a voracious reader, I imagine it'd be pretty hard to fill up all that storage, albeit if you run out, just let Amazon's cloud take care of that for you. Much of the difference lies in the appearance, with the Kindle Oasis (10th Gen) bearing an aluminium body in luxurious colourways like gold and graphite. Furthermore, its buttons are set on the right-hand-side bezel, allowing you to turn pages without having to smudge your greasy fingers on the 7-inch screen. The Kindle Oasis, Champagne Gold version, is available at a 16 percent discount during the Amazon Sale, costing Rs. 20,999. It comes with 32GB of storage and Wi-Fi connectivity. There's also a version that adds 4G connectivity to the mix, ideal for those who often travel, so they can use their phone data to connect to the internet and read books. This version of Kindle Oasis is listed at Rs. 24,999, down from Rs. 28,999, thanks to a 14 percent discount.

Keeping with tradition, customers can avail of additional discounts — on top of the original deal — based on their banks during the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2023. As we enter this new phase of the sale, customers owning an HDFC Bank, One Card, and Bank of Baroda debit or credit cards will receive an additional 10 percent discount on their purchases. EMI offers are also available during this festive season, for which Amazon has yet to announce an end date.
